Powerful storms. In weather, in life. Why are we surprised when they come Lord? They, like your spirit, are always present somewhere on this planet earth. Rains fall, winds blow, power goes out – we see the path of change it can bring. But what about us Lord? Today’s gospel had the holy men of the temple testing you. Whose wife will this woman be in heaven who has survived seven husbands? What does it matter? He is not God of the dead but of the living.
The living. We, created in your image, fashioned from your hands and destined to this life on earth, with the parents, family, race, religion we are born to and will be guided by. This should give us joy, some however find it a burden. We give up too soon. We look for our own comforts. We want to play but we do not want to pay. Do what I say but not what I do.
I know I am talking in circles tonight. I am in an unrest. Tired because the day is over and this should have been done in the morning. Too much. Help me Jesus to better understand the responsibilities you have placed before me so I may do them to bring all honor and glory to you, my Lord and Savior. I am nothing without you. Show me the way to your Father in all I say and do. For whoever I do the least for, I have done unto you.
